Thanks, too, to all the members who lent orchids for the display.

Several orchids on the display received individual awards as follows (with the grower's name in brackets).

Phalaenopsis Philisander, Second in class (Clive Lloyd)

Cuitlauzina pendula, Award of merit (Clive Lloyd)

Dendrobium unicum, Award of merit (Alan Wild)

Cattleya lobata, Award of merit (Nicola Wakley)

Cattleya purpurata 'Werkhauseri', Award of merit (Nicola Wakley)

Cattleya purpurata (Werkhauseri 'Bion' x 'Treasure of Carpinteria'), Award of merit (Nicola Wakley).

The RHS Orchid Committee awarded Clive Lloyd a Certificate of Cultural Commendation for his Cattleya Canhamiana coerulea 'Beaumont' CCC/RHS, recorded here with its new epithet and awarded status. Congratulations to Clive. There is a photo of this superb orchid at the bottom of this page.

UPDATE - 3rd June 2022

The Annual Show was held on 7th May and was a very successful event enjoyed those attending, who were happy to be meeting up again in person and seeing orchids for real, after the restrictions imposed by the COVID pandemic. There are brief details on the Annual Show page with a link to a fuller report. We are planning to organise another Autumn Show in conjunction with Burnham Nurseries with a date set for 10th September. More details in due course.

UPDATE - 11th April 2022

Unfortunately the talk planned for our meeting yesterday had to be postponed due to travel disruption and technical difficulties and will now take place at our August meeting on 21st August. If you have a look at our Facebook page @devonorchids, you can see photos of some of the orchids on the show table at our meeting yesterday.

We will be having a Members' Auction at our meeting on 17th July.

UPDATE - 28th February 2022

We are planning a full programme of meetings, shows and other events in 2022, now that restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic have eased. You can see the latest information on our "Meeting & Events" page.

So far we have held our AGM in January. Some long-standing members of the Committee stepped down; so our list of officers and committee members has a bit of a new look. You can find it on our "Organisation" page. We also presented the awards for the Table Shows held in 2021. You will find a list of those by clicking here.

At our February meeting we had an excellent talk via Zoom about The Mathers Foundation. You can read a report on that by clicking here. This talk was broadcast at the meeting at Burnham Nurseries and the talk and the meeting could also be viewed by members remotely via Zoom. This ability to provide access to our meetings both physically and online is one of the beneficial outcomes of the pandemic.

Our next meeting will be on 20th March when we will have a talk from Sara Rittershausen, subject to be decided.
